Rekall’s story began with law firms. After years of personally supporting a group of law practices at another IT company, our founder earned a reputation for reliability, responsiveness, and care that inspired unusual loyalty. Nine separate firms, all of whom knew each other through Monmouth County’s legal community, came to him independently with the same message: if you start your own company, we’ll be your first clients. In 2011, he took them up on it. Today, Rekall supports more than 165 law firms nationwide.
Learn about our Law Firm IT Services
Law firms carry a professional responsibility to protect confidential client information. The ABA doesn’t provide a single technical checklist for law firm IT, but its expectations are clear: firms must make reasonable efforts to prevent unauthorized access to client data. That obligation touches every part of your technology environment—email, documents, remote access, cloud systems, backups, user permissions, and the devices your team uses every day.
Beyond ABA expectations, law firms increasingly face cybersecurity requirements from insurance carriers, state regulators, bar associations, and the larger organizations they do business with.

Rekall works with law firms across practice areas and firm sizes. If your firm isn’t listed here, it almost certainly fits. Our experience across legal is broad enough that we understand your workflow, your software, and your pressures before the first conversation.
Our legal clients include firms such as:
Rekall’s service offerings are a direct result of our clients’ needs. When law firms ask us for a particular service, we deliver. Some of those include:
Every call is answered by a person and directed to the technician most familiar with your firm or your specific concern. Our help desk is available from 8 am to 9 pm, seven days a week, including holidays—because filing deadlines, client emergencies, and technology failures don’t observe a nine-to-five schedule.
Every Rekall client receives unlimited remote support. In an industry where a single missed call or delayed response can have real consequences, not having to think twice about picking up the phone is priceless.
Rekall has technicians who specialize in supporting law practices, which means we know the platforms your firm runs on. You’ll never be stuck explaining your workflow to someone who doesn’t know your world. We support a wide range of legal software, including:
Rekall’s private cloud was built specifically because law firms needed a safer, more flexible alternative to office-based servers. It supports legacy billing and practice management systems that public cloud environments can’t always accommodate. Your firm doesn’t have to abandon software that works simply because the hardware underneath it is aging. Your team gets a familiar Windows-based environment, secure remote access from anywhere, and the peace of mind that comes from a professionally managed, encrypted system with backup and disaster recovery built in.
Law firms handle some of the most sensitive information a business can possess—client records, contracts, litigation materials, discovery documents, financial information, personal information, medical records, settlement discussions, privileged communications, and confidential emails. Rekall has built our cybersecurity approach around the specific risks law firms face, with:
Email is where much of a law firm’s most sensitive communication lives—and it’s one of the most targeted attack surfaces in the legal industry. Rekall protects law firm email through spam and phishing filtering, multi-factor authentication, and mailbox monitoring that detects suspicious activity inside your email environment, not just at the perimeter.
One of the most dangerous threats law firms face is business email compromise. Attackers who gain access to a mailbox often create hidden rules—automated instructions that silently reroute or conceal emails—to intercept replies, monitor financial conversations, and redirect wire transfers—sometimes operating inside a compromised account for weeks without detection. We’ve designed our monitoring to catch these changes early, before a fraudulent transfer is completed—because once it’s executed, it’s rarely reversible.
When someone joins a law firm, they need the right access from day one—email, applications, file permissions, remote access, and everything else their role requires. When someone leaves, that access needs to disappear immediately and completely. A terminated employee with active credentials is a serious security risk, and in the legal world, the exposure extends to confidential client information.
Rekall manages the full cycle for law firms, including:
When a firm divides into two separate practices, the technology implications are significant. Client files need to be separated cleanly, practice management systems untangled, and both entities kept running without interruption. A mistake at any stage can be costly and complicated to unwind. We have guided firms through exactly this process—managing the data separation, dividing systems, coordinating with software vendors, and keeping both sides operational throughout the transition.
Rekall wants your law firm to thrive, which is why our managed IT service involves more than just keeping your systems running. We stay involved in the technology decisions that affect your firm’s long-term direction. As part of our relationship, we meet with you regularly to review your environment, share what we’re seeing across the legal industry, flag upcoming needs, and help you make informed choices about where your technology is headed.
In Rekall, you have a technology partner who helps you plan for growth, budget for hardware and software changes before they become emergencies, evaluate new tools including AI, and modernize your infrastructure at a pace that makes sense for your firm. You shouldn’t have to figure out your next technology move on your own—and you shouldn’t have to become a technology expert to make good decisions about it.
Law firms across every practice area and firm size are actively exploring how AI can help their teams work faster, reduce repetitive work, and manage the growing volume of legal data more efficiently. The question is no longer whether AI belongs in a law firm but how to bring it in safely and practically.
The most common requests Rekall hears from law firms include:
Being able to ask plain-English questions across case files, pleadings, contracts, discovery, correspondence, and internal documents using the firm’s own data and permissions rather than a public AI tool.
Confidentiality is where this gets complicated, and law firms understand this better than most. Rekall’s role is helping firms implement AI inside systems they already trust—their document management platforms, practice management systems, Microsoft 365, or a private AI environment built around the firm’s own data—with proper security, access controls, data retention policies, and clear rules about how data is handled.
Rekall helps law firms evaluate AI options, understand the security and privacy implications, and build AI into their environment in ways that give attorneys and staff better tools and faster access to the information they need every day.
When a law firm divided into two separate practices, every part of the technology environment had to be untangled without disrupting day-to-day operations. Rekall separated client data, coordinated with software vendors, and ensured each new firm had the systems and access it needed to continue serving clients. Throughout the transition, attorneys were able to stay focused on their cases instead of the technology behind the split.
A firm running a legacy practice management system needed to move away from aging in-office hardware without retraining the entire staff on new software. Rekall moved the existing system into its private cloud, giving the firm a familiar Windows-based environment that supported software that wouldn’t survive a move to a standard public cloud.
