Useful Technologies for Solo & Small Practices

September 9, 2014

As suggested by prominent attorney Jeremy Byellin in his article “How Solo and Small Firms Can Leverage Technology to its Fullest”, published on the Legal Solutions Blog in March of 2013, there a few key elements of technology that are integral to your success as a solo or small firm. Here are a few of them.

The Telephone

Make sure that you’re happy with your smartphone. Don’t yet have a smartphone? Please march right over to your provider and get an upgrade. In our digital age, it’s become an expectation – for better or worse — that you are able to respond to email on the fly. If you are unsure about what cell phone is right for you, by all means let the salesperson help you. Phones can do just about anything these days and they come in different shapes and sizes, so there’s definitely one out there for you.

The Scanner

Rekall has stressed the importance of moving to a paperless environment, and you’re not going to be able to do that without a high quality scanner. Give us a call and we’ll make a recommendation based on your specific needs.

The Tablet

Do you have an iPad? A Kindle Fire? Something similar? If not, now’s the time to get one. A tablet will be helpful not only in client meetings, but with a tablet, you’ll be able to view client documents wherever you go. You really can get a lot done on a tablet, especially if you opt for a portable keyboard.

There really is so much technology can do for you, but let’s start by getting these three basics down, shall we?
